The Charleston MINI Club is joining up with the The Coastal Empire Region PCA for their summer HPDE which is being held on May 30-31, 2020.
This event is being conducted at Roebling Road Raceway: www.roeblingroad.com
Registration is open now. PLEASE schedule as early as possible as these events fill up quickly!
As always, this event is open to PCA and non PCA members.
OUR DE EVENTS CONTINUE TO BE OPEN TO ALL MAKES AND MODELS, including convertibles with the proper roll bar protection.
Special note about convertibles: Any convertible or cabrio delivered with factory installed roll over protection meets the minimum standards for PCA DE events. In these cars we recommend the soft-top be in the up position or the hard top installed. If the top is in the down position, an arm restraint system (SFI and/or FIA approved) must be used. If a convertible or cabrio does not have factory installed roll over protection, a roll bar or roll cage must be installed, which meets the "broomstick" rule (the driver's helmeted head is below a bar placed on top of the roll bar and windshield). All targa tops must be installed unless there is additional roll over protection. All sunroofs must be in the closed position.
The windshield alone is not considered to be factory roll over protection.
All cars entered in the event must have fenders attached to the vehicle body at all four wheels.
Additional requirements are: (1) drivers MUST be 18 or older with a valid driver’s license to enter, (2) your vehicle has to be safety-checked by an ASE certified mechanic within two weeks of the event and re-checked by our tech team at the track-grid tech. (3) drivers must wear helmets (SA or M 2010, or 2015 designation).
This 2 day driving event is focused on developing high performance driving skills. Instructors will be provided for all students in the Green (novice) and Blue (advanced novice) groups.
These events are multi-purpose with a focus on teaching drivers with little to no track experience the fundamentals of high performance driving. We also accommodate those that have advanced skills and want additional track time to hone those skills.
So whether you are interested in trying this type of event for the first time or are returning as an avid "track junkie," we have something for all skill levels.
For those interested in our ONE DAY OPTION, this option is available to GREEN/NOVICE and BLUE NOVICE PARTICIPANTS on Saturday ONLY.
All BLUE SOLO, WHITE, BLACK, AND RED GROUP PARTICIPANTS may select this option for either Saturday or Sunday.
Coastal Empire Region will accept credit card payments through clubregistration.net.
Please note that If YOU have NOT made a PAYMENT, you are PENDING and REGISTRATION is INCOMPLETE, and you will NOT receive a CONFIRMATION email from clubregistration.net.
Please pay within 10 days of registraton. If paying by check, please include a copy of your registration. Additional details will be e-mailed to you once your registration is confirmed.
In addition to track events your registration also includes a PIZZA/WINGS SOCIAL on Friday evening and a BBQ on Saturday evening (both with adult beverages) at our host hotel.
The host hotel is the Springhill Suites at 1 Jay R Turner Dr, Savannah, GA 31408. This hotel is located at the Savannah Airport exit 104 off of I-95. The phone number is 912-330-5555 and the general manager is Tim Schaadt. Coastal has negotiated a block of 40 rooms at a discounted rate up until May 8, 2020. After that date, the regular rate is applicable.
Guests can make their reservations by calling 888-287-9400, provide the hotel code SAVSA, the group name “Coastal Empire PCA” , the group code COA, and the date of arrival.
After May 8, 2020, if anyone needs a reservation, they may contact Peggy Crist at 912-330-5555, Ext 503.
MEDICAL: HPDE events will expose participants to mental stress, high acceleration, turning and braking. You will also encounter high temperatures, loud noises, and vibration.
For your safety and the safety of others, you should be in good health and free from untreated high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by participation in this type of event. Contact your physician if you have questions about your participation.
TECH INSPECTIONS: Any reputable ASE certified technician, auto shop, or dealership - preferably one who is familiar with your make or model - should be able to perform a tech inspection on your vehicle. Some of the local auto shops which provide tech inspections for your vehicle are: HHI Porsche, H & H Auto (on HHI), and A & R Auto (in Beaufort). Please contact for any applicable fees.
HARNESSES AND RESTRAINTS: As of January 1, 2019, the PCA DE Minimum Standards were expanded to state that if a driver uses a harness system, he or she will ALSO be required to utilize a head and neck restraint system, commonly referred to as a HANS device. A head and neck restraint device is an integral part of the harness system. Because the rule of equal restraint ALWAYS applies, if a driver uses a harness system there MUST also be a harness system available and used by the passenger. Thus, both the driver and passenger will be required to use a HANS device.
If you are in need of either a helmet or HANS, please contact Linda Hammerly at Apex Performance 866-505-2739, as she is an expert in fitting helmets and restraints.
RUN SESSIONS: Instructor and black run groups will have longer run sessions so as to minimize tire heat cycles.
Please join us for another exciting and safe event. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
